Proof Reading

Simple proofreading is the process of checking a manuscript (MS) for spelling, grammatical and punctuation errors. It may also include such additional tasks as reformatting word processor files to change fonts, font sizes, line spacing and indents.

Each MS is unique. They arrive on the proofreader's desk in a wide variety of formats, quality and size. For this reason, proofreading fees are based on the number of pages and the amount of work needed to correct them.

For example, fees for a good quality MS (one with few typographical, grammatical or spelling errors) will be quoted at a less price than one needing more work.

Latona Artworks will evaluate a MS and quote a fee based on its assessment of the work involved. For this purpose a hard copy (paper) of the MS is required.

*The initial consultation and MS evaluation is done at no charge.

It is the responsibility of the author to make any changes to the original MS as a result of proofreading. Additional proofreading will be charged at a negotiated rate.

Copy Editing

This is a higher level of editing and includes simple proofreading (as above) and suggestions about the author's style.

Content Editing

The highest level of editing involving all the above and a review of characterization, plot, dialog, pacing etc.

Cover Design

Cover designs can be provided at a negotiated price.

NOTE: The provision of original artwork is the responsibility of the author.

Book Design

Formatting a book, digital storage and transmission for printing is available at a negotiated price. (See above.)
